GUIDELINES FOR ALL PERFUMES Ø Be sure to tightly close the bottle or container and allow the perfume to mature in a cool, dark place for approximately 2 weeks. Remember to stir the mixture regularly (except in the case of the solid perfume). Ø Don’t forget to label your bottle / container: Identify all the ingrediants, date of manufacture and why not, create an original name for your perfume! Ø Remember that moderation is more subtle and pleasant to the sense of smell! Ø In general, a natural perfume will not have the staying power of a synthetic one, which contains powerful chemical fixatives. You may want to apply perfume to the ends of your hair for extra scent (hair is a better fixative for perfume than skin). Ø Note: These perfumes will last approximately 6 to 12 months, if stored in a cool, dark place. *CAUTION: Never apply perfume on the skin prior to direct sun exposure. NOTES ON PEREFUMERY A fragrance is usually composed of three elements / notes. A top / head note, a heart / middle note and a base note. · The top note is the first smell that one notices after applying the perfume. It serves as an introduction to the scent/perfume; it draws attention, awakens and stimulates the senses. Examples of top notes: angelica, basil, bergamot, cardamom, coriander, fennel, grapefruit, lavender angustifolia, lemon, lemon balm, lemongrass, lime, mandarin, orange, peperment, petitgrain, rosemary verbenon and terragon. · The middle note creates the link between the base note and the top notes. It is the personality of the perfume. Examples of middle notes: X.T.O. Xmas Tree Christmas tree, Roman chamomile, cinnamon bark, clove, cypress, geranium, ginger, irisi, jasmine, juniper, magnolia, mimosa, neroli, palmarosa, black pepper, white pine, rose clary sage, and ylang ylang. · The base note is the foundation of the perfume and serves to make the scent last as long as possible on the skin. Examples of base notes: X.T.O. Xmas Tree Christmas tree, benzoin, cedarwood (Atlas), elemi, frankincense, myrrh, oak moss, patchouli, sandalwood, vanilla, vetiver.
